사디즘 [ sadism ] : 성적 대상에게 고통을 줌으로써 성적인 쾌감을 얻는 이상 성행위.

가학증 또는 학대음란증이라고 한다. 프랑스의 문학가 M.de 사드에서 유래된 명칭이며 ‘양성의 앨골래그니어(algolagnia)’라고 부를 때도 있다. 고통을 받음으로써 성적 쾌감을 얻게 되는 마조히즘과 대응된다. 심층심리학의 시조인 S.프로이트는 모든 생리적 기능에는 사디즘이 숨어 있으며 마조히즘은 자기자신에게 향하는 사디즘이라고 말했다. 때로는 성목표에만 한정시키지 않고, 공격적이며 고통을 주는 것에 쾌감을 느끼는 경향을 가리킬 때도 있다.
